Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
The mission of ABS is to serve the public interest as well as the
needs of our clients by promoting the security of life, property
and the natural environment primarily through the development and
verification of standards for the design, construction and
operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
ASME
Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy
This Standard provides requirements for the design, fabrication,
inspection, testing, marking, and stamping of pressure vessels for
human occupancy, having an internal or external pressure
differential exceeding 2 psi. This Standard also provides
requirements for the design, fabrication, inspection, testing,
cleaning, and certification of piping systems for PVHOs.
Marine
Technology Society - Manned Underwater Vehicle Committee
Welcome to the Marine Technology Society Manned Underwater
Vehicles Committee web site. Manned Submersibles have fascinated
society for hundreds of years and have played an important role in
history by opening up the oceans to human exploration. While the
vast majority of scientific Manned Submersibles were built during
the 1960's, the industry has seen a great deal of progress in the
past 20 years and the innovation continues.
