Captain's Perspective

The Very Best
Photo: Ian LauderSEAmagine submersibles are, far and away, the highest quality, one-atmosphere submersibles in their class (two and three occupants).  What's interesting is that the reasons for our success may well surprise you.

Sure, SEAmagine utilizes the highest quality materials and workmanship - as one would expect in a vessel of this caliber.  Our designers and engineers are the most experienced submersible experts on earth.  And while these attributes are certainly necessary to creating the world's very best and safest undersea craft, there is one more thing that makes the biggest difference of all; the evolution of our product.

Currently SEAmagine is building our seventh generation of submersibles and the evolution of our crafts has been tremendous - virtually every aspect and detail having evolved to various degrees.  The result is a submersible that is safer, easier to operate, goes far deeper, has simplified maintain requirements and is just plain more fun to operate.

General Description
Captain's PerspectiveThe basic concept of SEAmagine’s submersibles consist of a self propelled electric vessel that can carry two or three three occupants in a one atmosphere acrylic cabin to depths up to 3000 feet (914m) of sea water.

The cabin opens as a clam shell and allows for easy entry and exit for the occupants. The sealed cabin is equipped with a full life support system where scrubbers remove the carbon dioxide, oxygen is replenished at a controlled flow, and the environment is monitored by various analyzers.

In surface mode, the flotation system permits the craft to float high above the water line with a freeboard of over 30 inches. When the surface flotation is fully deflated the craft remains slightly positively buoyant and will only submerge when driven downwards by its vertical thrusters. Underwater, the submersible remains practically horizontal at all times and does not roll nor pitch. The buoyancy and balance of the craft is static. All electric propulsion thrusters are fixed and either push or pull depending on the direction of rotation of the propellers. Depth control is achieved by the vertical thrusters. Piloting the craft is via a joystick in the cabin. At the end of the dive the flotation bladders are re-inflated such that the craft floats back on the water surface and the cabin can be opened.

Captain's PerspectiveComprehensive Solution
Let us at SEAmagine help you be prepared for the day your boat's owner inquires about acquiring a submersible.  As you know, this "simple question" requires input from many people and places in order for you to be able to provide "a simple answer".

SEAmagine addresses all aspects of integrating a submersible into your ship's environment from basic feasibility to understanding all of your operational options and ramifications.

We work closely with your naval architect and yacht management company to provide you with all the information you need to make an intelligent, informed decision on incorporating a one atmosphere submersible into your boat's environment.

"When seated in Nemo’s comfortable cabin, the occupants are afforded 360 degree view of the surrounding ocean. It is not uncommon for the passengers to comment that the glass seems to disappear once the sub submerges. One of Nemo’s major design features is its ease of deployment. It can be lowered (unmanned) into the sea avoiding the requirement of a ‘man rated’ crane. This feature gives Nemo the ability to submerge with different passengers repeatedly during the day without the need for sub’s retrieval aboard Maniki. Nemo has been designed with the utmost safety in mind”
