How much is this going to cost me?
SEAmagine’s smallest submersible is the ABS classed 2-person Ocean Pearl Model depth rated to 500 feet (153m) with a starting price of US$1.195m. The deep submergence ABS classed 3-person Triumph model depth rated to 1500ft (457m) has a starting price of US$2.85 million.

Deeper rated models for both two and three person models are available but quoted upon request. |Top|

Is it safe?
SEAmagine’s submersibles have now performed over 10,000 dives in five countries with an excellent track record in safety and reliability. The submersible industry as a whole has an excellent safety record for the past 30 years. All SEAmagine submersibles are classed +A1 by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), guaranteeing the vehicles are built to the highest quality standards in the industry. SEAmagine follows strict construction rules dictated by ABS, which conducts material and construction surveys before certifying each submersible prior to delivery.

Safety is built into the design from the very beginning by having significant redundancies on the submersible systems. Safety is then enhanced further through a comprehensive training process involving not only the submersible piloting but also the full operational protocol after delivery to the end user. Finally, to ensure safe operations, a well-defined preventive maintenance schedule is implemented which is evaluated annually by both ABS inspectors and through SEAmagine’s yearly maintenance support program. |Top|

How deep can I go?

As mentioned above SEAmagine’s standard depth ratings are 500 feet (153m) for the Ocean Pearl Model and 1500 feet (457m) for the Triumph model. SEAmagine can customize the depth rating of its existing submersible designs down to 3000 feet (914m) deep. All SEAmagine submersible acrylic cabins have a minimum safety factor of at least 5 times applied to the maximum operating depth as dictated by ABS and the ASME Safety Standard for Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (ASME PVHO) rules, which is internationally recognized as the principal reference for manned occupied pressure vessels. |Top|

How many people can get in it?

Two & Three Person Models

The Ocean Pearl Model can hold two people in the cabin (1 pilot plus 1 passenger) for deep dives but has the option to have an external pilot station that allows for shallow dives to be performed with two untrained passengers in the cabin and a trained diver/pilot in scuba piloting the craft externally. This feature allows the submersible to be smaller and lighter and still permit a pilot and two passengers to dive around shallow reefs.

The Triumph model is a deep diving vessel that holds three people in the cabin (1 pilot plus 2 passengers). |Top|

Can I get insurance?
Yes, both Hull and P&I (Protection & Indemnity) insurance is available for all SEAmagine’s submersibles. |Top|

_______________________________________________________________________

Does my crew have to have special licenses?
Yes, the crew that will be responsible to operate and pilot the submersible must undergo the SEAmagine training program and hold a valid SEAmagine Pilot Certificate. Upon successful completion of the training program, passing all theory and practical exams and demonstration of competence in handling of the submersible, SEAmagine issues Pilot Certificates to each successful candidate. Most yacht crewmembers can readily qualify as candidates although final selection is achieved through competence and aptitude testing in the course of training.  |Top|

Do I have to hire a submersible pilot?
No, SEAmagine can train an existing crewmember to operate and pilot the submersible. Selected crewmembers may undergo Submarine's pilot training program and become a submersible pilot if they successfully complete the program and exams. |Top|

What kind of maintenance does a sub require?
A formal maintenance process of daily, monthly, and yearly checklists must be performed, most of which is simple and preventative in nature. SEAmagine has put great effort early at the design level to ensure that the regular maintenance process be easy to perform by crewmembers. The Maintenance Manual provides all the necessary information and the details are covered during the pilot training program such that the crew will be able to manage the majority of the regular maintenance. A comprehensive maintenance checkup is done yearly and is supported by SEAmagine’s technical support program. This ensures everything is in order for the yearly ABS surveyor inspection required in order for the submersible to maintain its class status.  |Top|

Can the owner be trained as a pilot?
Yes, owners can undergo SEAmagine’s training program and become pilots if they successfully complete the program.  Depending on area of operation there may be a minimum number of "at sea" hours required for insurance purposes and/or to carry passengers. |Top|

_______________________________________________________________________

Does the sea life show any interest and or fear of a submersible?
In most cases, sea creatures simply ignore the submersible’s presence while in some cases critters will often investigate closer, especially if the underwater lights are on. |Top|

_______________________________________________________________________

Can the submersible be equipped with a robotic arm?
Yes, all of SEAmagine’s submersible can be equipped with an external robotic manipulator in order to take samples. |Top|

_______________________________________________________________________

Is the submersible quiet?
Yes, all SEAmagine submersibles are electric vehicles powered by batteries, running silent electric thrusters, which make the vessel very quiet.  |Top|

"I’ve been diving for more than 40 years and this ranks right near the top. This system definitely provides a unique communion with the ocean. You all should be very proud of your efforts, especially the engineering simplicity.”
