Safety

SEAmagine’s submersibles have now performed over 10,000 dives in five countries with an excellent track record in safety and reliability. The submersible industry as a whole has an excellent safety record for the past 30 years. All SEAmagine submersibles are classed +A1 by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), guaranteeing the vehicles are built to the highest quality standards in the industry. SEAmagine follows strict construction rules dictated by ABS, which conducts material and construction surveys before certifying each submersible prior to delivery.

Safety is built into the design from the very beginning by having significant redundancies on the submersible systems. Safety is then enhanced further through a comprehensive training process involving not only the submersible piloting but also the full operational protocol after delivery to the end user. Finally, to ensure safe operations, a well-defined preventive maintenance schedule is implemented which is evaluated annually by both ABS inspectors and through SEAmagine’s yearly maintenance support program.

Regulatory Services
All of SEAmagine's submersibles are designed and constructed according to the American Bureau of Shipping’s (ABS) Rules for Building and Classing Underwater vehicles, Systems, and Hyperbaric Facilities 2006. This classification ensures full review of the design, inspections during manufacturing and functional tests after completion of the machine as well as field inspection and pressure tests of the submersible. SEAmagine has extensive experience regarding its submersibles' national and international regulatory requirements and can assist its clients at every level.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
The mission of ABS is to serve the public interest as well as the needs of our clients by promoting the security of life, property and the natural environment primarily through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.

ASME Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy
This Standard provides requirements for the design, fabrication, inspection, testing, marking, and stamping of pressure vessels for human occupancy, having an internal or external pressure differential exceeding 2 psi. This Standard also provides requirements for the design, fabrication, inspection, testing, cleaning, and certification of piping systems for PVHOs.

Marine Technology Society - Manned Underwater Vehicle Committee
Welcome to the Marine Technology Society Manned Underwater Vehicles Committee web site. Manned Submersibles have fascinated society for hundreds of years and have played an important role in history by opening up the oceans to human exploration. While the vast majority of scientific Manned Submersibles were built during the 1960's, the industry has seen a great deal of progress in the past 20 years and the innovation continues.

U.S. Coast Guard
SEAmagine worked closely with the U.S. Coast Guard to set and define the initial training standards for its first submersibles and has since then expanded its training program from that solid base.
